Rössing Uranium appoints new MD

SWAKOPMUND - Rössing Uranium Limited that was recently taken over by Chinese state-owned China National Uranium Corporation Limited (CNUC) has appointed Johan Coetzee as its new mines managing director.

Coetzee is expected to take up his new position on October 14.
The announcement was made in a release last Friday by the chairperson of Rössing Uranium Limited, Foibe Namene.

Coetzee takes over from Richard Storrie who previously served as the managing director.  However Storrie recently took up a position within Rio Tinto that sold the majority of Rössing?s stake to CNUC.

Coetzee previously served as the chief operating officer of Desert Lion Energy Namibia and was also employed as managing director of Navachab Mine.

Namene on Friday in the statement said that Coetzee?s extensive mining career also includes various leadership roles at Skorpion Zinc and Ghana Manganese Company. He also held leadership roles at Rössing Uranium, amongst other as operations manager, Namene added.
